Eligible individuals have until 19 October to apply for the second and final self employed grant (Self Employment Income Support Scheme – SEISS).
The taxable self employed grant is worth 70% of average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering 3 months’ worth of profits, and capped at £6,570 in total.
Like first self employed grant, you will need your self assessment Unique Tax Reference (UTR), National Insurance number, Government Gateway user ID and password along with your UK bank accounts details, which can accept Bacs payment.
Grants under the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme are not counted as ‘access to public funds’, and you can claim the grant on all categories of work visa.
WHO CAN CLAIM THE GRANT?
You can apply for self employed grant online if you are self-employed individual or a member of a partnership and your business has been adversely affected on or after July 14, 2020 due to corona-virus.
To be eligible, more than half the claimant’s income must come from work carried out as self-employed. However, self-employed workers who are company directors or run their businesses as limited companies can not apply. You must also be able to show a trading profit of less than £50,000 in 2018/19, or an average of less than £50,000 across 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19.
You can be eligible for the second self employed grant regardless of whether or not you claimed the first payment. If you claim maternity allowance, this will not affect your eligibility for the grant.
